The Archies were a fictional band consisting of characters from Archie comics, as portrayed in the animated television series The Archie Show. The band made six appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with four of those songs reaching the Top 40 and two hitting the Top 10. Exactly 50 years ago, the band’s biggest hit, “Sugar, Sugar,” rose to number one to begin a four-week reign at the top of the chart.
