Recently, Dublin-born singer Sinead O’Connor publicly stated that she will no longer perform her most famous song, “Nothing Compares 2 U.” That announcement came during the week that marked the 25 anniversary of the debut of “Nothing Compares 2 U” on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. Five weeks after its debut, in its sixth week on the chart, “Nothing Compares 2 U” rose to number one.
Exactly 25 years ago, O’Connor’s song was entering its second week of a four-week run at the top.
