This circa 1995 Live version of “Amsterdam” is probably the best Sammy Hagar Era Eddie Van Halen guitar solo.

In the late 1970s, Van Halen was consistently ridiculed because their concert rider stated “no brown M&Ms” in their dressing rooms. Now according to The Smoking Gun, Sheryl Crow is continuing the tradition with an Eco-friendly concert rider.
The Smoking Gun website states, “Crow wants traditional light bulbs swapped out for compact fluorescent bulbs in all offices, dressing rooms and common areas. Green cleaning and bathroom products and post-consumer recycled toilet paper and paper towel should also be used. Crow’s rider also encourages the venues to use renewable sources and/or to buy sustainable energy credits where possible.”
Has Sheryl gone too far with her demands? Is all the effort to go green actually causing more harm than good? Does having a current album that peaked at #3 on the Billboard charts give you the audacity to create a rider of this nature? What do you think about it? Read the entire rider by following the link below.

Van Halen has been a part of my life since I can remember. The blazing guitar and numerous lead vocalists kept the band relevant for years. In 2007 the band reunited with David Lee Roth and legged a world tour. Recently the classic rockers have been recording new music for a forthcoming record.
On VHND follow Sammy Hagar and Mike Anthony’s newest band Chickenfoot. Discover that Gary Cherone, the vocalist on Van Halen III, recently reunited with Extreme.

I am a huge Van Halen fan, but when David Lee Roth did a country version of the 1984 hit “Jump”, the classic tune went south (literally). Can you think of any other classic songs redone by the same artist that became a train wreck?
I recorded a montage of my favorite Van Halen tunes a few years back. One day while I was playing “Jump” I noticed how easily I could transition to “Dreams”. Then after time I added “Love Walks In”. Finally I discovered that “Right Now” segues into the last stanza. Enjoy this montage of Van Halen songs from me to you!
