It Happened 50 Years Ago: The Ad Libs “The Boy From New York City”

New Jersey-based vocal group The Ad Libs hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart twice. Their second charting single, “He Ain’t No Angel,” spent just one week at the chart while peaking at number 100 in May 1965. Before that, though, the group reached the Top 10 with their first charting single, “The Boy From New York City.” Exactly 50 years ago, “The Boy From New York City” hit its peak position of number 8, where it would spend one week.
