Guess What? Lynyrd Skynyrd Isn’t The Original Name

Guess What? Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the most popular bands of all-time, but it wasn’t their first name. In 1964 they started with the name “My Backyard”. Then later that year the name was changed to ”The Noble Five” and then in 1968 it was changed to “One Percent”.

After a couple of years, they decided to change it again since they were being taunted for their name. This is when Bob Burns thought of Leonard Skinner. This was the bands P.E teacher’s name who disapproved of the boys having long hair and sent Gary Rossington to the Principal’s office. He also taunted Ronnie Van Zant a lot. So in 1970, they shortened it to “Lynyrd Skynyrd”.

One of my favorites from the band is “Tuesday’s Gone”. What is your favorite song?
