(Everything He Did) He Did It for Seven Weeks

Exactly 20 years ago today, Bryan Adams climbed to the top spot on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with his song from the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves titled “(Everything I Do) I Do It for You.”  The song hit the top in just its fourth week on the chart, and it would hold on to the top spot for seven straight weeks, making it the longest-running single on the chart since The Police’s “Every Breath You Take” in July and August of 1983.  It became an international smash, and in the U.S. it would end up ranked as Billboard‘s top single of the year.
