DEF: Sonny James “Innocent Lies”

Alabama-born musician Sonny James, known as “the Southern Gentleman,” passed away on Monday at the age of 87. James’ era of greatest success came in the 1960s and 1970s, when he hit number one on the U.S. country chart 25 times, including with 16 straight singles. James released one album in the 1980s – I’m Looking Over The Rainbow in 1982 — the biggest hit from which was “Innocent Lies,” which peaked at number 19 on the country chart. In memory of James, today’s Daily Eighties Flashback is his “Innocent Lies.”
