25 Years Ago in the Nineties: Ini Kamoze “Here Comes the Hotstepper”

Ini Kamoze made two appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, both between 1994 and 1995. While the second of that pair of songs, “Listen to Me Tic (Woyoi),” only reached number 88, his first appearance climbed to the top of the chart. Exactly 25 years ago, that song — “Here Comes the Hotstepper,” which was featured in the 1994 film Prêt-à-Porter — climbed to number one to begin a two-week reign.
