Guess what? Rush first broke into the U.S. thanks to a Cleveland radio station.
In 1974, Donna Halper the music director of WMMS radio in Cleveland, Ohio received a copy of Rush’s first album from A&M Canadian promoter Bob Roper. She started playing the last track on the album “Working Man” and it picked up rotation since the listeners were rust belt blue collar workers, they related to the lyrics. From there, the track spread to other rock stations across the country, and the rest is history
