DEF: Club Nouveau “Lean on Me”

Sacramento, California-based group Club Nouveau have made two appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, with a couple singles from their debut album, Life, Love & Pain. Both songs reached the Top 40, though the first one — their remake of Bill Withers’ “Lean on Me” — was the most successful and most remembered of the two. Exactly 30 years ago, “Lean on Me” by Club Nouveau climbed to number one for a two-week reign. To commemorate that anniversary, Club Nouveau’s biggest hit is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
