Take A Look At Phil Collins At Number One

British singer, songwriter, and drummer Phil Collins has hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart seven times in his career outside of his work with the band Genesis.  All of those number 1 singles came between 1984 and 1990. With Genesis, Collins also hit number 1 once, and that single, “Invisible Touch,” also hit during that same time period.  In all, that’s eight chart-toppers for Collins.

Exactly 30 years ago, Collins scored his first number 1 hit, as “Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)” rose to the top spot on the Hot 100 for a three-week run.  The single came from the film Against All Odds and was part of Collins’ performance at Live Aid in 1985, when he became the only performer to play both in the U.K. and the U.S. during the event.
