(I’ve Had) The Time Of My Life

Back on November 6, Tunesmate noted that it had been 30 years since “Up Where We Belong” by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes hit number one on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.  Today marks 25 years since Warnes hit the top again with another duet from a classic romantic film from the 1980s.   This week back in 1987 Warnes joined Righteous Brothers member Bill Medley at number one for a one-week stay with “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from the film Dirty Dancing.

“The Time of My Life” marked the first of three top five hits that would come from the soundtrack to Dirty Dancing.  In 1988, Eric Carmen would hit number 4 with “Hungry Eyes” and one of the film’s stars, Patrick Swayze, would climb to number 3 with “She’s Like the Wind.”
