Joan Baez‘s success as an artist has come more in folk and other non-pop circles. She did, though, reach the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart once. Exactly 50 years ago, that song, her version of “The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down,” was at number 4 after reaching a peak position of number 3 a couple weeks earlier.
