Guess What? ELO Was Really Singing In “Don’t Bring Me Down”

Guess What? In the ELO song “Don’t Bring Me Down” contrary to popular belief, they do not sing “Bruce” at the end of each line in the chorus. As ELO’s song writer Jeff Lynne explained in an interview, “I was simply singing a made-up word, ‘Grooss.’ I left it in and didn’t think anything more of it, but then we went on tour and everyone was singing “Bruce”. So I joined in and sang “Bruce” ever since. It’s easier to join in than to explain that it’s not Bruce.”
