Giving Number One A Bad Name

Over the past three decades, New Jersey-based band Bon Jovi has hit the top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart many times, with a long string of hits that starts with “Runaway” reaching number 39 in 1984 and has most recently continued with “(You Want To) Make A Memory” hitting number 27 in 2007.  Among those top 40 hits, 10 have hit the top 10, and 4 have gone to number 1 (and that’s not including lead singer Jon Bon Jovi’s solo work, which features one more number 1 with “Blaze of Glory”).

Exactly 25 years ago today, the first of the band’s four chart-toppers ascended to the number 1 position, as “You Give Love A Bad Name,” which is featured above, spent one week at the top.

Bon Jovi is, of course, still making and playing music, and they just completed their latest tour in July of this year.
