DEF: UB40 “Red Red Wine”

In 1984, Birmingham, England-based band UB40 reached number 34 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with a remake of Neil Diamond’s song “Red Red Wine.” Four years later, radio stations began playing the song in regular rotation again, and this time the song climbed all the way to number one. Exactly 30 years ago, UB40’s “Red Red Wine” completed its ascent to the top, rising to the pinnacle position for a one-week stay. To commemorate that anniversary, “Red Red Wine” by UB40 is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
