DEF: U2 “In God’s Country”
Their 1987 album The Joshua Tree launched U2 into superstar status, particularly as the band hit number one with the album’s first two singles — “With Or Without You” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For” — and number 13 with the third single, “Where The Streets Have No Name.” Less prominent has been the album’s fourth single, “In God’s Country,” in large part because it just missed the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. On this date in 1988, “In God’s Country” hit its peak position of number 44, where it would spend one week.
