Vocal group The Manhattan Transfer have been making music since 1969. In all that time, their biggest pop music success came between 1975 and 1983, when the group scored four Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. Of those four Top 40 hits, one — “Boy From New York City” — hit the Top 10. On this date in 1981, “Boy From New York City” hit its peak position of number 7, where it would spend three weeks.
