DEF: The Kings “The Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide”

Canadian band The Kings made just one appearance on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, though that one song took two different forms during its chart run. Originally charting as just the song “Switchin’ to Glide” and rising to number 56, just over halfway through its time on the Hot 100, “Switchin’ to Glide” was paired and segued with “The Beat Goes On,” matching the conflation of the two songs on the band’s The Kings Are Here album. Together, the two songs climbed to number 43 on this date in 1980. That combined song of “The Beat Goes On/Switchin’ to Glide” by The Kings is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
