San Francisco-based Steve Miller Band hit the Top 40 seven times in the 1970s. In the 1980s, the band would add two more Top 40 singles, and on this date in 1981, the first of those two singles — “Heart Like A Wheel” — climbed to a peak position of number 24, where it would spend two weeks.
