DEF: Sergio Mendes “Never Gonna Let You Go”

Brazilian musician Sergio Mendes has reached the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart three times. The first two hits came in 1968, when Mendes reached number 4 with “The Look Of Love” and number 6 with “The Fool On The Hill.” Mendes would wait another 15 years before reaching the Top 10 again — a feat he achieved with “Never Gonna Let You Go,” which featured Joe Pizzulo and Leza Miller on vocals. On this date in 1983 “Never Gonna Let You Go” reached a peak position of number 4, where it would spend four weeks. “Never Gonna Let You Go” by Sergio Mendes is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
