Lately, Salt-N-Pepa‘s hit song “Push It” has been gaining renewed visibility for its appearance in a Geico advertisement. Historically, the song was the Queens, New York-based duo’s first single to appear on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, and it was the first of eight Top 40 hits Salt-N-Pepa have enjoyed to date.
On this date in 1988, “Push It” reached its peak position of number 19, where it would spend one week. Today, Salt-N-Pepa’s debut hit is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
