DEF: Peabo Bryson & Roberta Flack “Tonight I Celebrate My Love”

Greenville, South Carolina-born singer Peabo Bryson has hit the Top 40 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart five times. All but one of those appearances are duets featuring Bryson and another artist. Those artists include Celine Dion, Regina Belle, Kenny G, and Roberta Flack. By the time Bryson teamed up with Flack for “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” in 1983, Flack had already built a very successful pop music career that included three number one singles. For Bryson, though, the duet constituted his very first Top 40 hit.

On this date in 1983, “Tonight I Celebrate My Love” reached its peak position of number 16, where it would spend two weeks. Today, Bryson and Flack’s Top 20 collaboration is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
