DEF: Jerry Reed “She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)”

Atlanta-born musician Jerry Reed’s appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart spanned two decades. He first hit the chart with a couple of singles in 1962. Then, after nearly a decade off the chart, Reed made seven appearances on the Hot 100 in the early 1970s, including his only two Top 10 hits, “Amos Moses” and “When You’re Hot, You’re Hot.” Reed appeared on the Hot 100 one more time after that, this time with “She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft),” which on this date in 1982 climbed to a peak position of number 57. “She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)” by Jerry Reed is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
