DEF: Jack Bruce and Friends “Hit And Run”

Scottish musician Jack Bruce, who is most remembered as the bassist for the band Cream, passed away yesterday at the age of 71. In addition to his work with Cream and other bands, Bruce released solo work over the past four and a half decades, beginning with his 1969 album Songs For A Tailor and continuing through to the album Silver Rails that he released earlier this year.

Amid that work, in 1980 Bruce released an album titled I’ve Always Wanted to Do This under the act name Jack Bruce and Friends. Those friends included Clem Clempson, Billy Cobham, and David Sancious. In memory of Bruce, today’s Daily Eighties Flashback is that album’s first track, “Hit And Run.”
