DEF: INXS & Jimmy Barnes “Good Times”

In October 1987, Australian band INXS released what would become their most commercially successful album, Kick, which would spawn four Top 10 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, including their only number one single, “Need You Tonight.” Kick built off the success of the band’s previous album, Listen Like Thieves, which produced the band’s first Top 10 hit, “What You Need.”

In the time between those albums, just a few months before Kick‘s release, INXS hit the Hot 100 with a song on which they teamed up with Scottish singer Jimmy Barnes for the soundtrack from the film The Lost Boys. That song, “Good Times,” peaked at number 47 on this date in 1987, and though it’s far from INXS’s biggest hit, it was Barnes’ best chart performance among three tries.

“Good Times” is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
