DEF: George Thorogood and the Destroyers “Willie and the Hand Jive”
Wilmington, Delaware-born musician George Thorogood and his band The Destroyers are best known for their song “Bad to the Bone” from their 1982 album of the same name; however, “Bad to the Bone” gained its popularity largely after its release, and so it never made Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. The band’s lone appearance on the chart came a few years later, with a remake of the Johnny Otis song “Willie and the Hand Jive,” which on this date in 1985 climbed to a peak position of number 63. “Willie and the Hand Jive” by George Thorogood and the Destroyers is today’s Daily Eighties Flashback.
