DEF: Don McLean “Castles In The Air”

New Rochelle, New York-born musician Don McLean has appeared on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with nine different singles, most notably his number one single “American Pie” from 1971, which was his first appearance on the chart. Among those nine singles, six reached the Top 40, including McLean’s last single to make the Hot 100, “Castles In The Air.” On this date in 1981, “Castles In The Air” climbed to a peak position of number 36, where it would spend three weeks. Today, Don McLean’s last Top 40 hit is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
