The 1980s were good to both Diana Ross and Lionel Richie. Ross continued her successful solo career by hitting the Top 10 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart eight times. Richie launched his solo career and hit the Top 10 with his first thirteen charting singles. For both, their biggest hit was the song “Endless Love” from the film of the same name. Exactly 35 years ago, that song climbed to number one for a nine-week stay at the top of the chart.
