Between the summer of 1987 and the summer of 1988, New York-born recording artist and teen sensation Debbie Gibson hit the Top 5 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with her first four singles. Her streak came to an end, though, with her debut album’s fifth single, “Staying Together,” which on this date in 1988 peaked at number 22.
