DEF: David Lee Roth “California Girls”
In 1985, Bloomington, Indiana-born singer David Lee Roth left Van Halen to pursue a solo career that would eventually land him four Top 20 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. His biggest hit remains the very first single from his solo career to reach the chart, his remake of the Beach Boys’ “California Girls.”
Exactly 30 years ago today, Roth’s version of “California Girls” reached a peak position of number 3, where it would spend one week. Today, it’s the Daily Eighties Flashback.
