DEF: Commodores “Nightshift”

Between 1975 and 1981, Alabama-based band Commodores amassed nine Top 10 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, including the two number-one singles “Three Times A Lady” and “Still.” Following the departure of Lionel Richie in 1982, the Commodores scored one more Top 10 hit, with their tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson titled “Nightshift.”

Exactly 30 years ago, “Nightshift” reached its peak position of number 3, where it would spend one week. Today, the Commodores’ tenth and most recent Top 10 hit is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
