Vince Gill‘s first two Top 10 hits as a lead artist on Billboard‘s Hot Country Singles chart came with two songs from his 1985 The Things That Matter album. Exactly 40 years ago, the first of those two hits, “If It Weren’t for Him,” which also featured Rosanne Cash, rose to a peak position of number 10.
