Daily Eighties Flashback (DEF): Joan Jett and the Blackhearts “Crimson And Clover”

Yesterday, Tunesmate began its new feature, the DEF (Daily Eighties Flashback), with Lita Ford’s Top 20 hit “Kiss Me Deadly” from 1988.  Today’s DEF features Ford’s former bandmate from the Runaways, Joan Jett.  Today back in 1982, Jett and her band, the Blackhearts, hit a peak position of number 7 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 with their second straight Top 10 hit, “Crimson and Clover.”  The song would spend two weeks at number 7 as the follow-up to the band’s most successful single, “I Love Rock ‘N Roll,” which spent seven weeks at number 1.

Speaking of the number 7, Jett would hit the Top 40 seven more times in her career, culminating with “Dirty Deeds,” which peaked at number 36 in 1990.  That was the beginning of the 1990s, though.  As for the 1980s, today’s Daily Eighties Flashback is “Crimson And Clover.”
