Cyndi Lauper’s First Chart-Topper

New York-born singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper scored eight Top 10 hits in the 1980s, beginning with her very first single to hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, “Girls Just Want To Have Fun,” which peaked at number 2 in 1984.  Her follow-up single, “Time After Time,” did one better, peaking at number 1 exactly 30 years ago.  “Time After Time” would spend two weeks at number 1, and it was the first of two chart-topping singles for Lauper, who also spend two weeks at number 1 in 1986 with “True Colors.”
