Crow’s Eco-friendly Concert Rider

In the late 1970s, Van Halen was consistently ridiculed because their concert rider stated “no brown M&Ms” in their dressing rooms. Now according to The Smoking Gun, Sheryl Crow is continuing the tradition with an Eco-friendly concert rider.

The Smoking Gun website states, “Crow wants traditional light bulbs swapped out for compact fluorescent bulbs in all offices, dressing rooms and common areas. Green cleaning and bathroom products and post-consumer recycled toilet paper and paper towel should also be used. Crow’s rider also encourages the venues to use renewable sources and/or to buy sustainable energy credits where possible.”

Has Sheryl gone too far with her demands? Is all the effort to go green actually causing more harm than good? Does having a current album that peaked at #3 on the Billboard charts give you the audacity to create a rider of this nature? What do you think about it?
