Casey Kasem 1932-2014

News has been circulating that broadcasting legend Casey Kasem died today at the age of 82.  Kasem is, of course, known best for his long-time role as the host of American Top 40 (though let’s not forget his work as a voice artist for cartoon characters such as Shaggy on Scooby-Doo as well).  Here at Tunesmate, we owe a debt to Kasem.  The Billboard chart history information that shows up in many of my posts derives from the same kind of information that Kasem would routinely offer on American Top 40, and growing up listening to AT40 facilitated my interest in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.  For that we thank and honor Casey Kasem.
