Essex, England-based band Depeche Mode hit the Top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart in 1985 with their song “People Are People.” Then, for the next four and a half years, while the band had a significant following and charted below the Top 40 with a number of singles, including “Strangelove” and “Master And Servant,” they failed to reach the Top 40 again.
