Toto Unearths New Tracks

They just don’t play new songs from old music artists like they used to. I have noticed a few classic rock stations like 97.5 WONE in Akron, Ohio and Eddie Trunk’s weekly terrestrial radio periodically do. However for the most part, it’s a passing trend. However the new songs from the classic artists I’ve heard are strong. Thus I am going to start a new segment called Old But New which features new songs from classic artists so we can bask in the glory of goodness. Since Toto is today’s 80s flashback, let’s start there.

Toto just released a brand new Greatest Hits package called “40 Trips Around the Sun”. It features three previously unreleased recordings: “Spanish Sea,” “Alone” and “Struck By Lightning.” The core Toto members, Steve Lukather, David Paich, Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams re-entered the studio earlier this year to work on it. Here’s one of the unearthed tracks that has an “Africa” kind of beat.
