Weird Al is getting ready to release his next album. Mr. Yankovic prefers to ask the permission of the artists he parodies before he releases it. In this case, Lady Gaga recently declined the parody of “Born This Way”. Al posted this video thinking it would remain as unreleased material, but Lady Gaga actually saw the song and immediately gave him the green light. There are many that say Al did this as publicity, but both camps say that management were confused. What do think of “Perform This Way”, I can’t wait to see the actual video.
I was conceptualizing a new segment on Tunesmate which I am tentatively calling “Songs That Sound Painful”. Perhaps this segment may run only once, but hear me out before you make a quick decision. In this edition I am focusing in on “Hearts” and keeping on my Phil Collins retirement obsession, I added one of his pop hits to the list. As listeners, we tend tend to enjoy pain driven songs.

Heart Songs That Sound Painful:
One More Minute – “Weird Al” Yankovic (Rip My Heart Out… Stomp On It Until I Die)
Two Hearts – Phil Collins (Two Hearts Living In Just One Mind? Ouch!)
Heartache Tonight – The Eagles
Total Eclipse of The Heart – Bonnie Tyler
Do you have any more “Heart” themed songs that sound extremely painful?

Have you ever wanted to get into the mind of Weird Al? Check out his Twitter account, it’s chucked full of strange thoughts and useless information.

It’s almost been four years since Weird Al’s last CD, who should he parody? Last time Al covered Chamillionaire’s “Ridin Dirty” as “White and Nerdy”. Rumors say Lady Gaga is his big target, who do you suggest? Perhaps Al should do an classic song again like Garth Brooks “Friends in Low Places” and record “Seniors With Hip Replacements”?

In celebration of Weird Al Yankovic recently turning 50, I thought it would best to feature some of his greatest work. Back in the 1980s, Weird Al Yankovic took over MTV for the day sporadically; it was affectionately called Al TV. I actually forgot how funny some of these clips actually were.

Every new CD all does half parodies and half new original songs written in the style of a current artist.
Skipper Dan isn’t half bad. We’ve all seen this guy at Cedar Point.
