The David Letterman Show continually features an outstanding line-up of today’s best musicians. Thus it would only be natural to devote an entire online radio station to the music that makes Dave smile.

Listen to the radio station and click through photos of performances from the show. Recently Peter Gabriel performed Live On Letterman with a 46-piece orchestra. The site also features free music downloads from artists like Moby and Wilco.

I just stumbled upon this cool Steely Dan mash-up interpretation. The best part is that you can download the entire project for free! I would describe this music as an instrumental tribute to Steely Dan with a hint of electronica.

The website says, “Day Glow Freaks is a collection of 12 songs created entirely from the sampled works of Steely Dan. This homage, built from hundreds of samples of the band’s 82 studio tracks, is the result of a yearlong personal endeavor and is an expression of gratitude for a career of captivating music.”

Looking for some free legal music? Got no dough for iTunes or Amazon? Instead of using an illegal form of downloading music, then first consider public domain music. What happens is after time the copyright on recorded music can expire and great tracks are left open for distribution. Check out this website for great blues and classic music from yester year. You are not going to find the Jonas Brothers or the latest Metallica album, but if you have an open mind you will get something you can take home.
