In 2006, Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx starred in the film version of the 1980s’ television program Miami Vice.  In the past few weeks, original Miami Vice star Don Johnson has appeared in the latest Nike Lebron James commercial in a parodied reprisal of his role as Sonny Crockett from the television show.  It was, though, 25 years ago today that Jan Hammer hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with the theme to the show.

“Miami Vice Theme” is among a list of a number of television show themes that have hit the top of the charts–a list that includes John Sebastian’s “Welcome Back” from Welcome Back, Kotter as well as the theme from S.W.A.T, among others.  Hammer’s tune is also the most recent instrumental to top the Hot 100.

Lebron James at 9:10 pm tonight is going to announce that he is going to Miami. Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade and Lebron James had planned this all along and like the climatic third act of a play will all come together tonight. Will Smith says it best in this classic tune.

Lebron James is the most highly desired NBA free agent this summer. Glen from Q104 wrote this appropriately funny song called the Summer of 23. However, the most interesting thing is that Lebron will be now wearing number 6 next season. Should the song be called the “Summer of 6″? It doesn’t seem to have the same ring to it.

Lebron James has officially become a free agent and speculation around LBJ staying in Cleveland continues. Will Lebron be a Chicago Bull, New York Knick or remain in the wine and gold uniform as a Cavalier? Local celebrities from Cleveland, Ohio joined together to create “We Are Lebron” a parody of “We Are The World” to encourage “King James” to stay. Will this work?

Jay-Z played to a nearly sold out show at the Wolsein Center in Cleveland last week.

N*E*R*D opened for Jay-Z and put on an amazing performance. Rhea, there new female vocalist was on stage for the entire performance. During “Spaz”  Pharrell Williams invited a female fan on stage with him. She was obviously very excited as she danced and sang along to every word. About 15 women joined N*E*R*D on stage during “Everyone Nose (All The Girls Standing In The Line For The Bathroom)”.

With ten minutes before show time the count down to Jay-Z began and the screens on each side of the stage started counting down. Jay-Z made a dramatic entrance rising from below the stage as “Run This Town” started. The crowd went crazy and the stage came to life.  Without a doubt I can say that this was the best and most elaborate back drop display I’ve ever seen at a concert. The images changed from city buildings, fancy speakers, and live footage.

Many songs played throughout the night were from “The Blueprint 3″ album. However we also got to hear “Jigga”, “99 Problems”, and Izzo (H.O.V.A.).

LeBron James was on stage during a few songs. He danced or bounced behind Jay-Z while singing along. It looked like LeBron and some friends had seats on stage off to the right.

The encore included “Can I Get A….”, “Big Pimpin”, and “Hard Knock Life”. After talking to the crowd and addressing specific fans he ended the show with “Young Forever”
