Missing Persons

Exactly 30 years ago, Los Angeles-based band Missing Persons peaked at number 67 with “Give,” their fifth and final single to hit Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart.  This peak position for this song is notable because it also meant that Missing Persons never hit the Top 40 with any of their five charting singles.  After stalling out just short, at number 42, with their first two singles, “Words” and “Destination Unknown,” the band peaked at numbers 63 and 70, respectively, with “Windows” and “Walking in L.A.” in 1983.  When “Give” dropped to number 93 one week after peaking in April 1984 and then fell off the chart completely, Missing Persons officially became a no-hit wonder — a musical act that has hit the Hot 100 five or more times but never cracked the Top 40.
