It Happened 50 Years Ago: The Shangri-Las “Leader Of The Pack”
New York City-based girl group The Shangri-Las scored six Top 40 hits on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, all in the 1960s. Three of those singles reached the Top 10, the biggest of which, “Leader Of The Pack,” went to number one. “Leader Of The Pack” climbed into the number one slot for its one-week stay exactly 50 years ago today.
