South African musician Hugh Masekela made four appearances on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart, all in the late 1960s. One of those songs reached the Top 40, and exactly 50 years ago, that song — “Grazing in the Grass” — climbed to number one for a two-week reign at the top.
