I Swear It Went To Number One

California-based vocal group All-4-One have hit the Top 5 three times in their career, with all three of those hits coming between 1994 and 1995.  Two of those songs, “So Much In Love” and “I Can Love You Like That,” peaked at number 5, while the biggest of these three hits, “I Swear,” was huge.  Not only did it hit number 1 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart exactly 20 years ago, but it spent 11 weeks at the top.

All-4-One’s “I Swear” was a remake of a song originally done just months earlier by John Michael Montgomery.  Montgomery’s version hit number 1 on the country chart and peaked at number 42 on the Hot 100.
