Don’t Disturb This Groove

Exactly 25 years ago today, New York-based duo The System peaked at number four on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with the biggest hit of their career, “Don’t Disturb This Groove.”  Not only was “Don’t Disturb This Groove” The System’s biggest hit, it was their only single to reach the Top 40.  They also hit number 64 in 1983 with “You Are In My System” and number 91 in 1988 with “Coming To America (Part One)” from the film Coming to America.

The System split up after the release of their 1989 album Rhythm & Romance, though its members (Mic Murphy and David Frank) have briefly collaborated as The System a couple of times since, and David Frank remains highly active as a songwriter and music producer.
