DEF: The Monkees “That Was Then, This Is Now”

Los Angeles-based band The Monkees had a string of hits in the 1960s, including three number one singles, before disbanding in 1970. In 1986, three of the band’s members — Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz, and Peter Tork — reformed the group and hit the Top 20 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart with their single “That Was Then, This Is Now,” which hit its peak position of number 20 on this date in 1986.

“That Was Then, This Is Now” remains the Monkees’ final Top 40 hit, and today it is the Daily Eighties Flashback.
