In 1986, the Beach Boys released a greatest hits album called Made in the U.S.A. that also contained two new recordings that were released as singles and charted on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. On this date that year, the second of those two songs, a remake of the Mamas and the Papas’ “California Dreamin’,” climbed to a peak position of number 57.
