DEF: Rick Dees “Eat My Shorts”
Jacksonville, Florida-born disc jockey Rick Dees is best known for his years hosting a weekly Top 40 countdown and for his song “Disco Duck,” which topped Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart for one week in 1976. Dees has hit the chart two more times, though neither song reached the Top 40. The second of those two additional songs was “Eat My Shorts,” a phrase that would become further popularized a couple months later with its use in the film The Breakfast Club.  On this date in 1984 “Eat My Shorts” was in its second week at its peak position of number 75.
